Siem Reap Day-01 Tour

Day-01 Tour

As the largest religious monument in the world, Angkor Wat is a masterpiece of Khmer architecture. Surrounded by a massive, shimmering moat, its grand causeways lead you toward a multi-level sandstone marvel. Whether you are admiring its five iconic lotus towers or the intricate bas-reliefs that line its galleries, the temple stands as a breathtaking symbol of Cambodia’s soul.

Entering the ancient city of Angkor Thom through the South Gate is a rite of passage. Standing on the causeway—flanked by 108 statues of gods and demons—you can almost feel the weight of history. It is a place where you can easily drift back in time, imagining the sheer scale and grandeur of the Khmer Empire in its heyday.

Located at the exact center of Angkor Thom, Bayon is famous for its “Baroque” Khmer style. It is most renowned for the hundreds of serene, smiling faces carved into its many towers. As you wander through its labyrinthine corridors, these enigmatic gazes seem to follow you, offering a spiritual and slightly mystical atmosphere.

  • Baphuon Temple: A grand “temple mountain” located northwest of Bayon. It is celebrated for its majestic entrance and the impressive reclining Buddha added in later centuries.
  • Phimeanakas: Tucked inside the ancient Royal Palace grounds, this pyramid-style state temple offers a glimpse into the private worship of Khmer kings from the 10th and 11th centuries.
  • Terrace of the Elephants: A massive, 300-meter platform used for public ceremonies. The walls are adorned with life-sized carvings of elephants and their mahouts, showcasing the power of the empire.
  • Terrace of the Leper King: Located just to the north, this terrace features a hidden, deeply carved trench filled with remarkably preserved figures of deities, royalty, and mythical creatures.

Left largely to the whims of nature, Ta Prohm is a hauntingly beautiful monastic complex where giant silk-cotton trees grow directly out of the ruins. The sight of massive roots strangling ancient stones creates a cinematic atmosphere, famously earning it a starring role in the Tomb Raider films.

To end the day, ascend the hilltop temple of Phnom Bakheng. Its elevated position provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the park. From here, you can watch the sun dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the spires of Angkor Wat and the lush Cambodian jungle—the perfect finale before returning to your hotel.
